Hasina Jalal had the pleasure of hosting Olena Boryshpolts in a university-wise event for a rich discussion on City of Refuge, at-risk writers, Ukrainian literature, documentary poetry, and her latest works. A former lawyer, Olena is now a poet, writer, journalist, actor, and cultural director, recipient of the Konstantin Pavlovsky City Literary Prize for her poetry collection Blue Star, member of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, and co-founder of the civic organization Creation Without Borders. Her poetry and personal narratives left a deep and lasting impact on students.
