Hasina Jalal Launches International Campaign for the Release of Her Father, Dr. Faizullah Jalal, Following His Detention by the Taliban

Hasina Jalal has intensified an international campaign calling for support and protection of her father, Professor Faizullah Jalal, a longtime law and political science lecturer at Kabul University and vocal critic of the Taliban. Jalal gained attention for his outspoken criticism of the Taliban’s rule during a televised debate, where he accused the group of monopolizing power, suppressing free speech, and highlighted Afghanistan’s deep humanitarian struggles.

Hasina Jalal’s campaign seeks to elevate international attention on the risks faced by academics and critics under Taliban governance and to urge global actors to advocate for freedom of expression in Afghanistan.
